Fourteen boats challenged the "Mighty Bend" for the second Wed Night Tournament of 2009.  And, within 45 minutes of blast off, anglers were faced with heavy thunderstorms and high winds.  But, the anglers kept fishing, and after about an hour of heavy rain (tornados touching down in Stanley & Luray) anglers noted the bite turned on.  Melvin "Brauer" Fulk and Stacy "Lightning" Freeman took first place, weighing the heaviest sack of bass at a Wed Night Tournament ( a new Wed Night Record), with five bass weighing  8.77 pounds.  Their sack included a 20 plus inch lunker which tipped the scales at 4.56 pounds.  Their total payday, $250.00.

Fourteen boats braved the heavy thunderstorms and wind to chase those little green fish at the Mighty Bend.  After a 20 minute delay due to lightning, anglers blasted off.  The weather cleared with occasional showers and the fishing by most reports was "on".  Most anglers caught numbers of bass except for the few that decided to lock out of the main lake.  However, it was the team of Bill "The Real Deal" Seal and Andy "The Terminator" Bowman that capturted first place, with five bass weighing 5.56 pounds.  They collected the "Winner Take All" purse of $240.00.  Bill was unavalable for comment as was Andy, as they were giving interviews to various national news networks.  They left the scene quickly, noting sponsorship obligations in Del Rio, Texas.

Fourteen boats made the journey to the infamous Egypt Bend Wednesday Night Invitational.  Water temps were unusually warm from the recent hot weather, as most anglers reported water temps between 85 to 87 degrees.  Most anglers reported catching lots of numbers, but the infamous 13 inch plus bass were hard to find.  The father-son duo of Bobby and Joey Lineweaver, took the first place "Winner Take All" purse of $230.00 for their five fish limit weighing 6.16 pounds.  The duo would not give up any information about their winning stringer, but, all I can say is they were "hole jumping" on May & Bowers.  An investigation from the FBI and CIA is forthcoming, due to stealing spots.  Great job Lineweavers for the nice stringer (I'm only joking).

Fourteen boats challenged the mighty "Bend" for the second Wednesday Night Tournament of 2008.  Many anglers reported a slug fest, noting catching numbers of bass and many slot fish.  This is the third year of the Wednesday Night Tournaments and although there have been reports of anglers hooking that elusive "over" 20 inch bass, none has ever been brought to the scales.  And, in order for me to believe it, it has to be on the scales baby!  Tonight, the team of Melvin "Brauer" Fulk and Danny "Rojas" Sherman proved it, as they brought in a bass over the 20 inch slot limit, which weighed 4.28 pounds.  That lunker helped them secure the "Winner Take All" prize of $250.00.  Melvin told reporters at the weigh in that the lunker was caught up stream, off a bed, on low tide, in hydrilla, in 5 inches of water, on a texas rigged tiny torpedo near the lock.

The Wednesday Night Egypt Bend Tournament Trail ended with challenging conditions, high muddy water, thanks to a recent tropical storm.  However, Melvin Bowling, tackled the elements and took the "Winner Take All" frist place prize of $140.00, weighing in five bass for 5.7 pounds.  He noted most of his key fish were caught on stick baits, 9 to 10 inches in length, made from balsa wood that he frequently uses for peacock bass fishing in Mexico.  The key color was green camo firetiger. Melvin also admitted that he rented a plane to fly over Egypt Bend to find the clearest water, which definately helped.  Melvin noted he was taking his money and taking the family on a trip to Disney Land and Antartica.
